A Pigment of My Imagination

Another Clay Carnival has come and gone. As always, there's much anticipation and work leading up to it and so much to do when we arrive in Las Vegas. But then, seeing all the familiar faces and a few new ones, as well, and reconnecting with all of these wonderful ladies that I feel such a closeness to, made the long hours seem like nothing at all. The weekend just flew by and I wish I could find a way to bottle the enthusiasm, the excitement, and the wonderful attitudes that they bring to the Clay Carnival every year. Each and every one of them mean so very much to me!
My class was called "A Pigment of Your Imagination" and the photo above is one of my favorite pieces that I've made with this technique. All of the students in my classes made wonderful pendants and beads and I was so impressed with their beautiful work. I always feel like I come away from these classes so enriched with new ideas and enthusiasm. It's truly an honor to spend time in a classroom with so many kind, funny, generous and talented individuals.
I also came away from Las Vegas with a nasty flu bug that I'm still trying to recover from. Hopefully, I'll be back to normal soon and blogging on a more regular basis. Until then, peace to all!

I wish we had such great things like carnival and workshops in Switzerland. Many people in here think that polymer clay is for little kids.
Your works are great! I am sure your students had wonderful time with you.

You know, of course, that I am going to "steal" your design, right? Well, I guess it isn't stealing since you taught me how to do it in Vegas! Thanks for being who you are - a very special person.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this piece Kim. I especially love the colour! I saw it on flickr and had to come and have a look here and leave a comment. The technique is lovely..its a shame Australia isn't closer to Vegas. lol Do you think you might do an 'online tutorial' one day for us poor saps who live on the other side of the world? We would weely weely appreciate it! :)

Thanks for sharing your talent with us, you gorgeous creative person you!

Thank you Enkhe! We're planning a Carnival in England in 2008. I've seen a lot of great work from France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Portugal, and Switzerland. It's great to see that there are so many talented clayers in Europe. Please don't feel bad about the attitude of some people towards clay. There are people in the US who feel that it's a toy, as well. We'll just have to keep making beautiful things and prove them wrong!

Thank you, Deb! You're so very kind. I have some workshops already scheduled for this technique so I'm sorry I can't share it online right now but say the word and I'll pack my bags and head for Australia!

Carnival in ENGLAND in 2008? Do you need someone to carry your bags? Buy your tea & crumpet in the morning? Pick smashed bits of clay off the floor (assuming your students' work habits are anything like mine)?

OH, I wanna go!
