Beautiful Inspiration

Rocks are one of my passions. I love them! I've been known to fill my purse with them and the purses of friends as well.

When I saw Beach Stones by Josie Iselin, I had to have it. It's been a great inspiration to me and has fueled my rock obsession.

It's also led me to create lots of polymer stones like these.

A must-have book for all rock hounds!

Woven in Clay Workshop

I'm heading to Raleigh, NC this coming weekend to teach Woven in Clay, one of my favorite workshops, for the Capital Area Polymer Clay Guild. I'll be at Artist's Oasis on Saturday, October 6 and I'll also be doing a free Friday night caning demo for the guild. The cost of the workshop is $90 for guild members and $95 for non-members. For more info and to register, please contact Marilyn Dobris. To read a review of this class by a previous student and to see the great canes she made, check out http://sharonsolly.blogspot.com/

Begin Where You Are . . .

I'm horrible at this. I don't want to sit down and figure out the great big mystery that is blogging, yet here I am. I love to write though, so perhaps this may not be as painful as I'm thinking it will be. Do I have anything valuable and worthwhile to share? My friends think I do. Of course, they're hoping I'll be a sarcastic smart-ass and write wildly funny observations so they can sit around laughing in a puddle of pee. At the risk of disappointing them, I've decided to make an effort to be relatively well-behaved.

So, where to begin? The first thing that pops into my head is, strangely enough, monkeys. I love them, especially the chimps. When I was a kid, I begged for a chimp. My parents were extremely uncooperative in regard to buying a monkey of any kind. Perhaps that explains my current monkey fixation. And apparently, I'm not the only one. How else to explain THIS?
